INTRODUCTION
Welcome to PATHWALKER ONE, a cinematic, rules-lite system designed to enable immersive storytelling and adventure. Our core rules place imagination first, serving as an adaptable framework for any setting, while still allowing for impactful roleplay, lightning-fast combat, and deep character customization.
Even if you’ve played the same Path before, each character in Pathwalker One feels wholly unique and tailored to the player. Whether playing as a fierce WARRIOR, a skilled ARTISAN, or a powerful SPELLWEAVER, players will have the chance to hone their skills and become masters of their chosen PATH.
What’s more, a Path does not dictate how a character can progress, only where they will begin.
What is a Tabletop Roleplaying Game?
In a TTRPG, players collaboratively tell a story together, taking on the roles of characters in an imaginary world. One player becomes the Wayfinder; who describes the world, its inhabitants, and the challenges that arise.
All other players create a unique character. These characters will embark on adventures in the Wayfinder's world, shaping the direction of the story through their choices and actions. As the Wayfinder sets each new scene, the players will decide how their characters respond, and the story unfolds organically from there.
Roleplaying in Pathwalker One
To start the game, each player will CREATE THEIR OWN CHARACTER. Players will decide what their character says and does and describe their appearance, thoughts, and feelings to other players at the table.
Gameplay progresses through player-driven actions. Players will declare their intent, then the Wayfinder will narrate the results.
As the controller of all characters and obstacles in the story, the Wayfinder advances the plot and creates challenges for players to overcome. However, the Wayfinder should regularly ask players if they have any ideas for the next event in the story (such as a conversation between two player characters, the investigation of clues, etc.), and players should be allowed to play those scenarios out.
To ensure a harmonious experience, each player should be given the chance to contribute and be heard. Additionally, players should actively listen to and respect one another's ideas throughout the storytelling process.
The Wayfinder's goal should be to provide support and guidance, rather than act solely as a force of opposition. By fostering a spirit of teamwork, the game can unfold seamlessly, and create an immersive and enjoyable experience for all involved.
